Suspended License? We Will Help You Get It Back

In order to get your license back, you must understand why your license has been suspended.

The severe penalty of suspension is a Registry of Motor Vehicles' function.

Your license may be suspended by the Registry of Motor Vehicles for many different reasons. The following is a list of the most common reasons:

  • If another state has revoked your right to operate for a violation in that state, our Registrar, upon notification (sometimes after several years), will suspend your license until your right to operate has been restored in the other state;

  • Motor vehicle offenses such as operating under the influence of alcohol, reckless or negligent operation, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and multiple speeding offenses.

  • Your license also may be suspended for offenses completely unrelated to the operation of a motor vehicle, such as possession of marijuana and other drugs, failure to pay excise taxes and child support, outstanding arrest warrants and failure to register as a sex offender.

Now that you know why your license has been suspended, if you can cure the problem and present proof to the Registry, generally your license will be reinstated for a fee of $100 - $1,200, depending on the reason for the suspension. The higher reinstatement fees are usually related to suspensions for serious motor vehicles criminal offenses such as operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs. The Registry's strict guidelines will not allow exceptions or discretionary decisions until the suspension period has lapsed. However, there is recourse. You may file an appeal after the Registry denial with the Division of Insurance Board of Appeal on Motor Vehicle Liability Policies and Bonds.

This Board (separate from the Registry of Motor Vehicles) has the discretion to restore a license in full or issue a work or school license good for 12 hours a day if they are satisfied that you no longer represent a threat to public safety and you can prove a positive and significant change in circumstances. You must be absolutely sincere in your representations and provide supporting and convincing evidence for partial or full reinstatement.

We have been able to consistently obtain licenses for our clients through client instructions, preparation, and attention to the factors considered to be favorable by the Board.

With your help we will prepare a plan which will get your license back. Remember, consultations by phone or in person are ALWAYS FREE!
